About the project
FXLAB makes professional stage-effects equipment — fog, haze, snow, CO₂, confetti, fans and controllers. It works for clubs, theatres, touring productions, rental houses and broadcast environments: not a party accessory, but equipment a technician relies on night after night.
The identity is built on one idea: engineered atmosphere. What an audience experiences as spectacle is, behind the stage, a consistent, calibrated machine. The X gathers that tension into a single form. Its source is a hummingbird’s flight — intense, uninterrupted motion held on one fixed axis — but the mark translates that motion into geometry, not into a bird: red carries the wing’s direction and output, navy closes the body.
Across the CLUB, VENUE and ARENA series, the system changes line density and the width of the output cone, never colour. The same navy-red relationship holds on kraft cardboard, laser engraving and one-colour print without breaking.
Logo
The lockup works as one piece — the wordmark is a technical logotype, the X an independent mark. Red stays inside the X, nowhere else.
The X
The mark works on its own — equipment badge, controller icon, laser engraving. On dark surfaces the body turns paper white; the X keeps its red.
Construction
A reading grid: outer radius R, inner radius 0.5R, two axes crossing at centre. The X works inside that one frame.
The way a hummingbird holds still while working hardest — intense motion, gathered onto one fixed axis.
Clear space
x is half the height of the lockup. No edge, image or text enters that area.
Minimum size
-
Header — 260 px
-
Minimum — 120 px
-
Badge — 64 px
-
Minimum — 32 px
The lockup stays legible down to 120 px on screen, the X down to 32 px. Below that, the X is used alone.
Colour palette
- FXLAB Navy #080E2D
- FXLAB Red #BF162A
- Technical White #F4F2EC
- Machine Black #12141C
Pattern
The X repeats to build a surface — badge backgrounds, manual pages and packaging liners; a texture, not a decorative motif.
What to avoid
-
Do not rotate the logo.
-
Do not stretch or squash it.
-
Do not alter the navy/red relationship.
-
Do not place it on busy or neon surfaces.
The identity ships with its rules; change the composition around the X instead of the X itself.
