The OKTO octopus mark printed in red on cream paper

OKTO Studio is an independent studio working across photography, art direction, design and image-making, based in Istanbul.

The identity was built as a print behaviour rather than a logo exercise: two inks, one paper. Red and blue act like separate plates, and where they overlap a darker third tone appears. The millimetre of misregistration is the system’s rhythm, not its mistake.

The mark is an octopus whose arms turn at right angles. Every arm comes from the same module; the mark simplifies as it shrinks and still reads at stamp size. Nothing more is needed to say that one hand works across several disciplines.

Logo

The horizontal lockup. Symbol and logotype work as one piece; the distance and proportions between them are fixed.

Two inks

Red and blue print as separate plates: 85% multiply, a darker third tone where they overlap. The millimetre of misregistration is the rhythm, not the mistake.

Poster

Two inks, one paper. The rest is composition.

Clear space

x is half the height of the lockup. No edge, image or text enters that area — in tight layouts the logo shrinks and the space stays.

Minimum size

  • Header — 260 px

  • Minimum — 110 px / 28 mm

  • Stamp — 56 px

  • Minimum — 22 px / 7 mm

The lockup can shrink while the "STUDIO" line stays readable: 110 px on screen, 28 mm in print. Below that, the symbol is used alone.

Colour palette

  • OKTO Red #DA3832
  • OKTO Blue #1D2870
  • Paper #E7E1D3
  • Ink #090B11

Pattern

Pattern

The mark repeats to build a surface: studio tape, envelope liners, archive boxes and print paper.

Reversed use

On dark surfaces the logotype turns paper, the symbol keeps its red. Where one ink is all there is, the whole lockup prints in paper.

What to avoid

  • Do not rotate the logo.

  • Do not stretch or squash it.

  • Do not add outlines.

  • Do not recolour it.

The identity ships with its rules; change the composition around the logo instead of the logo itself.
